Purpose:
Diversity training is a common method used by companies to deal with issues around bias, stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination. It sounds great; give employees some training and we are done! Unfortunately, diversity training is not the perfect answer, though it does have some merit. In addition, in California, diversity training is required. Companies with more than five employees must provide at least 2 hours of sexual harassment training to all supervisory employees and at least one hour of sexual harassment training to all non-supervisory employees as of January 1, 2020, and once every 2 years thereafter. (SB-1343)
