Discussion Board : Media/Technology Practice and Final Paper Progress Report

This week, you will practice producing a screencast video presentation that allows you to report your progress on the final paper while also preparing you to build a quality final presentation for the course.
A screen–cast video (for this course) should be understood as a recording of a PowerPoint (or Prezi) in Slideshow Mode, narrated/presented by you within a picture-in-picture video.
Here is an example:

For this week’s main post, prepare a screencast video by following these steps:
1. Build a three–slide PowerPoint (or Prezi) presentation that includes text and graphics. Outline your answers to the following questions:
What are some specific questions you have concerning the final argument paper?
What is your time–management plan for compiling and editing your final paper?
What parts of your final paper do you anticipate will take the most time and attention? For example:
Incorporating instructor feedback in your perspective papers
Reworking the perspective papers into one cohesive paper
Writing the introduction, conclusion, or abstract
APA formatting
Revising for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
2. Access Getting Started With Panopto on the course menu (on the left–side navigation panel) to view the tutorials. Videos can be recorded using any software or tool, but all videos are required to be uploaded to My Panopto Videos for assignment submission.
You can also use the Panopto Desktop Recording tool to create your video.

3. Your presentation should be 1–2 minutes in length. Show yourself on video narrating your PowerPoint (providing your answers to the questions above about your final paper).
4. After shooting the screencast, experiment with editing (e.g., chop, trim).
5. Publish your completed screencast video to your My Panopto Videos area in Canvas.
6. Finally, in the Discussion Forum main post, Reply and then use the Mashups tool to select your completed screencast video and publish it to the discussion forum.
In your replies to peers (at least two) throughout the week, comment on the production itself, the content (concerning the final paper issues), or both.
