The topics discussed during this course involve current events related to health care issues in the country. In this course, you are expected to develop the ability to apply the concepts to identify, analyze, and evaluate current health care organizational issues.
Using a large U.S.-based integrated health care system as a guide, research the organization and demonstrate understanding of the multidimensional framework and resulting complexities that exist in today’s integrated health system. Provide examples of other integrated health systems across the national landscape; compare and contrast.
Discussion Questions:
1) Identify a stand-alone and integrated health care system in your immediate geographical area—are there more than one?
2) How are they different? What types of services do they offer?
3) Are there specific challenges that you expect the stand-alone hospital to face? What about the integrated system?
4 )Describe how an integrated health system impacts market share, competition, and patient stickiness.
