A cross-section survey was conducted in Japan to examine the impact of a health-related campaign. This campaign is called Small Change Campaign, mainly advocates for residents to have healthy eating habits and encourage more physical exercise.
This research aims to examine some key influences of this campaign:
How many Japanese participants have heard of this campaign after its launch?
Through what channels did this campaign make notice or impact?
What are the audiences’ thoughts about this campaign?
Purpose of this campaign:
This campaign was launched to encourage Japanese residents to have a healthier lifestyle and avoid obesity. Being overweight and obese became the main influence on people’s health. This campaign advocates healthy eating habits and exercising among middle to elder age groups. This campaign was 2-years long and tried to spread health knowledge and resources through multiple media channels.
Research outcome:
This research has surveyed 508 participants, mostly middle to older age groups to see how well they know about this campaign.
Takeaways: 1. The campaign’s slogan and logo awareness was low. (43.5%)
Gender and employment status influence the awareness; female and employed residents perceive more awareness of the campaign.
Local newspapers, magazines, and leaflets were the most popular health communication channels for delivering this campaign.
Questions:
Why do you think this campaign’s brand recognition was low? Based on the article, the campaign’s name is “Health Tokigawa: Small Change”. (Tokigawa is the Japanese city’s name) Do you think a good campaign name and slogan will impact the influence of this campaign?
Based on the campaign background, what other media channels do you recommend using them? Why?
