THOUGHTS ON GENESIS

The trailblazer, Del Tackett, takes a journey to discover what many believe about creation in Genesis and the evolutionary mysteries of naturalists. On the trip, several scientists, who have dwelt for many years in the Biblical and scientific perspectives, were interviewed on varying ways many believe the universe came into existence. Their efforts have provided greater insight into why one should realize what occurred historically in the past and how it can correlate with what He is trying to inform us in His Word.

Dr. Kurt Wise’s thoughts on the different periods from creation to the present were intriguing. The Paleontologists provided insights into the early Creation Epoch through our Modern Epoch, in which we struggle today. The contrasts between the naturalists and the biblical history in Genesis bring on varying arguments about the universe’s creation and afterward occurrences. He realized the topics are challenging to understand for most humans and thus took each of the five epoch periods and provided reasonings. For example, the discussion in the Post-Flood Epoch was fascinating because the rain came down so fast that snow developed; thus, upon hitting the ground, it assimilated into potential miles of ice. When the rain/snow stopped, the glaciers that had developed on earth began to melt back into their current position; thus, we are still recovering from Noah’s Flood, two to four thousand years ago, and maybe more or less. It would be good to realize just how many people truly understand this.

In listening to Dr. Wise, he realized from 2 Peter 3 that the scoffers told people that everything continued as they were from the beginning of time. They had forgotten that the world that then existed perished with the flooding of the earth. “The “scoffers” are forgetting something: they are forgetting their biblical history. But are they forgetting “deliberately,” or is their forgetting the result of their maintaining their position (much as we often overlook data to the contrary when we are focused on our own position)?”[1] It would be great to provide an easier understanding of biblical history that shows the unique processes of the earth and the universe’s development. “To be simple is to fix one’s eye solely on the simple truth of God at a time when all concepts are being confused, distorted, and turned upside-down.”[2] Such a path can aid in setting us free from the knots of life.
