This discussion focuses on your first reading – “The Story of an Hour” – by Kate Chopin. Please read the story carefully (probably more than once) before you respond to these questions. Do you think Brently Mallard physically abused his wife? Did he love her? Did she love him? Exactly why was she so relieved to be “free, free, free”? In your response, include at least one quote from the story that supports your ideas about it. In other words, if you write that Mallard did love his wife, support it with a quote from the text that shows this.
