Do the songs and short story function as tools to promote cultural nationalism?

Choose 3 songs and 1 short story from Ó Conaire’s collection of short stories which refer to Irish historical events that we have covered in this course. Please only refer to songs or short stories we have covered in this course. If you would like to refer to relevant additional songs or short stories you may do so but only after you have analyzed the material from this course.
1. Analyze the references to Irish history in your chosen works.
2. Do the songs and short story function as tools to promote cultural nationalism? Are they effective? Do they romanticize war?
3. Compare and/or contrast the songs and short story in how they portray the historical events.
Please refer to a minimum of 3 relevant secondary sources to support your arguments. If you are aiming for a high grade, please refer to a minimum of 5 relevant secondary sources.
The essay should be between 3 and 5 pages in length. It is mandatory to include a bibliography and follow a referencing style such as MLA, Chicago, Harvard or APA.
