Do you think Apple should be responsible for ethical lapses made by individuals further down its supply chain? Why or why not?
I think Apple should take responsibility for ethical lapses made by individuals further down its supply chain. The rationale behind my reasoning is that it’s the company’s role to set better ethical standards in its activities. This will ensure that suppliers remain honest in their relationships, tasks, and sourcing. The company should concentrate on establishing better standards of ethical conduct. Apple’s suppliers need a safe environment and need to act ethically in compliance with the norms and ethical standards of the company. Therefore, if Apple’s suppliers engage in unethical practices, the company should respond by terminating the contract. This will push the suppliers to embrace ethical practices because of fear of losing their partnership with the most profitable company in the world.
