Do YOU think one of the historians makes a more compelling argument than the other?

Historiography Assignment
American History Part I
Surry Community College
The purpose of this assignment is to give student an experience in analyzing historiography. Remember, historiography is the study of when historians have said about past events. Not necessarily the study of the events themselves.
To carry out this analysis students are to read the two brief chapters written by leading historians, the chapters are:
Joan Hoff-Wilson, “The Negative Impact of the American Revolution”
Mary Beth Norton, “The Positive Impact of the American Revolution.”
While doing so, students are to address the prompts below as fully as possible. Include enough details to back up your points and be sure to be clear to the reader which historian is making which point. DO NOT DO ANY OUTSIDE RESEARCH!!!!!!!
The Prompts are:
What is the overall point (thesis) to each chapter?
Are there aspects or evidence the each historian seems to focus on more than the other?
What examples do the historians use that the other does not bring up?
Based on the chapters why do YOU think the historians come to the conclusions that they do?
Do YOU think one of the historians makes a more compelling argument than the other? Explain why?
After reading these articles what impact do you think the Revolution had on women?
