Does violence have a place today as a force for positive social change?

There are two readings, the two readings will be “Uprooted” by Sarah Pike, and “Love, Law, and Civil Disobedience” by Martin Luther King, jr. BOTH of these articles MUST be incorporated into your essay. An essay that doesn’t comply with this rule automatically fails!
What does it mean to “incorporate the readings” into your essay? It does NOT mean that you’re going to just compare the two readings, or summarize them. The Midterm will ask you a general, argument-based question. You have to make your own original, argumentative essay of about 500 words, and work the two readings into it. The simplest way to do this is to quote something from the readings that agrees or disagrees with your argument.
You can also discuss your own experience, observations, and/or history, current events, and so on. But there will be no academic research allowed beyond the two given articles.
Choose ONE of the questions below and write an essay of about 500 words or so (more is fine). Remember that you need to make your own original argument, but also incorporate BOTH “Uprooted” and “Love Law and Civil Disobedience”. The documentary “Accidental Courtesy” can also be used, as well as your own experience.
This is due Friday, by end of day.
1) Does violence have a place today as a force for positive social change?
2) When is it ok to break the law?
