In this assignment, you will focus on the one social issue and research and write about the causes and consequences of the social problem.

Focus of this research paper is on the Opioid Epidemic

In the first part of your paper, you will write about the circumstances that lead to this social problem – The causes. Beware – there is never just a single cause. Therefore, you need to research multiple causes. Make sure your causes are social in nature – and not individual. For example, greed or pride can be a cause of many different social problems. However, you will not need to look more often to macro level causes. For every cause, you will need to have a citation – or some level of proof that it is a cause. THIS IS NOT AN OPINOIN PAPER – you will have to have sources for the arguments that you make.

In the 2nd half of your paper you will discuss the consequences of your social problem – what problems do this social problem connect to? What problems in society do they make worse? Social problems are like a spider web – in one way or another they are connected to each other. Again, there are multiple consequences. Write about multiple consequences – not just one – and be sure you can cite a source that makes that connection.

Your paper will look like something like this: XYZ → A → PQR

Where A is the social problem you are covering. XYZ are the causes and PQR are the consequences.

The Purpose of this paper is to convince the naysayers that this is a major problem that needs to be addressed.

FORMAT

Your paper needs to contain –

PREAMBLE – a 100 to 200 word paragraph making a case that your social problem meets the criteria of a social problem as listed in → (“Social Problems,” 2016). Use that internal citation in this paper again.

CAUSES – 550 to 800 words, multiple paragraphs, covering the causes of the social problem. This section must include at least FOUR external sources that clearly demonstrate the cause. These sources official sources (scientific, governmental, or professional) instead of some random blog or website.

CONSEQUENCES – 550 TO 800 words, multiple paragraphs, covering the consequences of the social problem. This section must also include at least FOUR external sources that clearly demonstrate the consequences of your social problem. These sources official sources (scientific, governmental, or professional) instead of some random blog or website.

Work Cited page. Add a work cited page – done in APA format – at the end of your paper. In total, you must have 9 sources. This means that you must take some time to research the causes and consequences.

Your paper needs to be in Calibri or Times New Roman 12 point font. The paragraphs need to be DOUBLE spaced with a space between them. Write your paper in 3rd persom
