Your lab report must include.
1. Your name, the date and the lab experiment performed.
2. Detailed qualitative observations and values used in Part II steps 8, 9, 10 & Part III step 18.
3. Two data tables, that include.
Table 1: From part I, step 1; Expected value of e/m (with units), Helmholtz Coil radius
(in cm), number of turns N in coil and value of (4/5)3/2 µ0N/R (with units).
Table 2: Current I, accelerating voltage V, orbital radius r (in cm), value of magnetic field
B, value of √2/ for each of the four experiments.
4. A full page (landscape) plot of orbital radius r (vertical axis) versus √2/, that includes a r =
0, √2/ = 0 data point.
Note: To read the slope accurately, format the slope display in scientific notation to
provide 3 significant figures.
5. All calculations of; expected value of e/m, value of (4/5)3/2 µ0 N / R, magnetic field strength B
(2), the experimental value of e/m from the slope of your graph.
6. Does your experimental value of e / m agree with the value calculated in step 1? Calculate a
percent error between the two.
