Drug Addiction

For your response paper, please write a 300 and 500 word response essay on at least two policy proposals for combating drug use and how they relate to two of the readings from this unit.
Your essay should include:
– Title;
– Your name;
– Appropriate in-text citations: please use author name and date, and page numbers of any directly quoted material;
– Proper bibliographic citation of the texts your reference.
Guiding question: According to these authors, why do people use or sell drugs? How are the ways people interact and socialize influenced by drug use? How does race and class come into this conversation? What would be the policies these authors would suggest to a politician to address some of the issues they raise?
To write your paper, put the two readings from this unit in dialogue. Please do not summarize the readings. Rather, think of how McCoy and Bourgois speak to each other. What has to change in society/politically for some of the problems that stem from drug use and sale to get addressed? You are also welcome to use one of the readings from the additional resources.
It might help to answer or consider the following questions:
What are some of the reasons these authors argue for people to use or sell drugs?
What are the policies for addressing drug use and sale these authors might suggest?
