Directions:
1.Identify a grade level, one or more instructional units, and topical areas or subjects that you might want to teach during a marking period.
2.Develop an assessment plan for a 9-week marking period in the area that you want to teach. Include the time frame for the units, the formative and summative assessment strategies, and the weighting of the assessments within units and across units (i.e., for the entire period).
3.If you are using more than one unit, then you must also provide a plan for how you will weigh all the units into the marking period.
4.Record the basic information about the unit(s).
5.Develop an assessment plan for one of the units of instruction. List lesson learning targets, types of assessment, purposes(s) of assessment, and actions to take using assessment results. Do not forget to identify the cognitive skill level of each learning target according to the taxonomy of educational objectives that you are using.
6.In your unit plan, be sure to arrange the assessments you plan to use in order of usage from formative to summative.
7.Develop a complete blueprint for this assessment:
a.Create a title for your blueprint that refers to the instructional unit’s title and grade level.
b.Design a grid. Under ‘Content Areas’, write a brief reference to major areas of content that would be covered under your unit. At least three content areas must be used. It is not advisable to use more than five content areas. Fill in the names of cognitive skill domains that you are using.
c.Fill in the number of points and items you will assign to each target. Some targets can be assessed with just a few items; others require many items. Some only need one item but you may want to assign more than one point to the item to give it more weight.
d.Compute the percentages of total points per content area and total points per learning target within content area.
e.Describe the kinds of assessment tasks you would include.
f.Explain the emphases of your planned assessment by providing the rationale for type and number of items used, weights given to content areas and learning targets and length of assessment.
g.Explain the amount of time it will take students at this grade level to complete the assessment. Explain your reasons for this time estimate.
8.Develop the assessment types listed in your blueprint following test construction guidelines.
