The typical
negotiation project paper is between twelve (12) and twenty (20) pages in length and
double spaced. Book reports are not an appropriate form for the project. The core of
your paper and presentation is your analysis of the negotiation or negotiations under
review by you. The skeleton for your project may be found in the Seven Elements [a
copy of which is posted on Classes].
The mark of a professional is a lucid and effective writing style. Your writing should be
clear, flowing and logical; and you should treat your topic systematically. If your
negotiation project report is based on the research and writings of other authors, you
should employ footnotes (endnotes are NOT acceptable) and a bibliography. The
length of the project report should be sufficient to fulfill the challenge of the topic.
You should strive to eliminate spelling or grammatical errors. Learn the art of
proofreading. Although strict citation form is not required, you shall:
(i) Place the titles of all books in “quotes” or bold the title or use italics or
underline the title; and
(ii) All references to any source shall include, in addition to the name of the
reference, the page on which your reference appears; and
(iii)These same requirements apply to paraphrasing (some and maybe all
written submissions will be reviewed through TurnItIn, an expansive
website to determine whether plagiarism has occurred – see Policy of
Academic Integrity and Plagiarism, below).
