Assignment:
Write an argumentative essay in which you
put to use the concepts and techniques of causal analysis. In this 3-4 page essay, you will consider the
cause-and-effect relationships between events or conditions, arguing specific causal connections. You will establish
these connections in convincing detail, revealing causal chains where necessary
and being careful to avoid fallacies. You should consider both the short-term
and long-term effects. Remember to
provide a clear, arguable claim and supporting reasons for your argument. Use
no outside source evidence for this one; focus instead on evidence that you
can generate yourself: chains of
reasons, concrete and hypothetical examples, personal anecdotes, and common
knowledge.
