[you can include the country, region, people, persons etc that you have selected in the title]
PART I: FINAL PAPER – 20 points
The final paper will be an opportunity for students in the course to write a research paper of a summary of all your work from the beginning of the semester that you have learned in the course by selecting any ONE (or more interrelated) global issues or challenges in the 21st century and expanding in a 4 – 5 page paper.
Here, you will research and “tell history” from World History 108 class on your selected topic. The Final Exam Paper will be a prelude to your Final Exam PPT slides.
SECTION 1 CONTEMPORARY ISSUES
Discuss some of the new challenges in the 21st Century: examples include
Elections, Gun violence, COVID Pandemic, Racism: Race and Ethnicity, Religious conflict, Gender Issues, Hunger, Water, Climate Changes, Colonization / Decolonization, War/conflict
Or any other topic of interest (you may make suggestions including suggestions for learning materials or resources that pertain to your selected/suggested topic (s) of interest).
Here you will select any contemporary issue or related issues and expand on the problem.
SECTION 2: CURRENT CHALLENGES

Here you will select a country, region, people, continent, etc, and provide a discussion of the current challenges based on the topic [s] that you have selected.
SECTION 3: CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
Discussion on linking history to the present. A continuation of the new challenges in the 21st century. How did we get here?
Here, you will link history to the present and provide a discussion on current opportunities from the challenges or problems…what led to these problems, how they have persisted, and how they were resolved.
SECTION 4: CONCLUSION – FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Here you will summarize everything from part 1 to part 4.
What can we do so that history does not repeat itself?
SECTION 5: REFERENCES
Here you will include references in chronological order in APA format.
GUIDELINES
You are to write a 4 – 5 page paper. Double spaced 5-point indent at each paragraph or margin. Include a cover page, section heading, and subheadings, in-text citation [provide references to the section you have directly quoted, lifted from another source, or paraphrased, include a separate reference page].
Clearly think through your topic, research additional references, and format the paper according to the different subject headings above – you are welcome to include your own section headings. Do not include “section 1” topic” etc in the final paper. This is included in this document to provide some guidance. See the template included and incorporate your paper into the provided template [this makes it easier for you ;]
