In the introductory paragraph
These must be done in the first paragraph:
Identify
the firm, and the relevant key info (e.g., what is the time period for the case, in what
geographic region did it occur, in what sort of business is the firm engaged, etc.).
Briefly and clearly
describe
the ethical challenge the firm faced.
State
the position you are arguing: does your application of stakeholder theory and fair dealing
principles indicate that the firm successfully responded to the ethical challenge or not?
In the body of the essay:
Describe
whatever components of the firm are necessary to understand the case.
Describe
the ethical challenge the firm faced (what was the choice the firm was faced?), providing
whatever additional details are necessary beyond what was stated in the introduction to
understand the case.
Describe
the firm’s response to the challenge (what did the firm choose to do in response to the
ethical challenge you identified?).
Evaluate
the firm’s response, applying stakeholder theory and fair dealing principles explored in
class and in the text.
In the concluding paragraph:
Restate
– in new words – your claim about whether your application of stakeholder theory and fair
dealing lead you to believe that the firm successfully responded to the ethical challenge (or not), and
briefly explain why. Do not introduce new ideas, claims, or information.
Use of a First-person Perspective:
NOTE: You may use “I” to state your position (the “first-person” voice).
Be aware: Speaking from the first-person voice does
not
free you from justifying your claims.
Sharing your opinion does not make your reader believe your opinion is correct. For this essay,
you are expected to convince your reader using systematic, ethically-based reasoning.
HOW SHOULD YOU FORMAT YOUR REPORT?:
