Ethical Justification Model

Hi, I want my paper written about an ethical dillema that I faced at my internship. I intern at a ketamine treatment center for people who struggle with mental health. The requirements at my internship include doing intake and assessing clients if they are the right fit for the ketamine treatment. One time I faced a dillema with a potential patient. The patient called and told me he struggles with depression and anxiety. He confided in me that he is a drug addict and he has been sober for the past 8 months. He was very excited to hear about ketamine treatments and wanted to come into our clinic for a ketamine infusion. As I spoke with the patient, it was very apparent to me that he was extremely vulnerable to using drugs again and I was concerned because the ketamine treatment can very likely trigger a relapse for this individual.
I felt ethically and morally it was against my values. I don’t believe that addicts should be doing the ketamine treatments because they can easily relapse. However, the owner of the treatment center believes that ketamine treatment can help with addiction and that we should allow the patient to join the clinic and get treatment with us. The clinic recently opened up and the owner is still in a financial space of trying to build up the company. I think that his intention to bringing this client on was for his own financial gain instead of what’s best for the client. I explained to the owner of the clinic how I feel regarding this clients addiction and he wasn’t seeing it my way.
I had to get social workers involved because I felt like the clinic was enabling his addiction while they were promoting healing and self help….. (you can make up the rest of the story if needed)

Using this story, please follow the instructions listed below for the paper:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER:

Write about an ethical dilemma you faced and process it through the ideas we learned in the pyramid (knowledge, theories, principles, values).

Present a case in which the social worker is in conflict with the family, agency, colleagues, group, or community over this ethical dilemma. Describe the specific conflict situation.

Present the ethical dilemma in one or two sentences.

Utilizing the Ethical Justification Model (of Beauchamp & Childress), apply the model to your case. Begin with the background information:

A. Identify any value conflicts that may be present in the ethical dilemma.

B. Identify ethical principles and theories as they pertain to the ethical dilemma.

C. Identify possible courses of action and the benefits/costs and possible outcomes of each.

D. Make the decision/resolution and explain how and why you arrived at that decision.

E. Discuss how your personal values entered into the decision-making process.

It will be helpful to use bold headers for each section – such as “Deontological, Utilitarian, Autonomy, Justice…” and then explain how the dilemma would shift through each lens.

Throughout the paper, cite at least 4-5 relevant sources from the literature on the topic and on the value and ethical considerations.
