This Portfolio Project is worth 30% of your overall grade.
Outcomes
Completing this Assessment will help you to meet the following outcomes:

Scenario
For your Portfolio Project, you will demonstrate your comprehension of social media and mass media ethics and issues. Through this project, you will analyze major ethical issues in social and mass media; evaluate the impact of day-to-day social media and mass media exposure on interpersonal relationships; and examine the potential of social media and mass media as a force for social change. This includes describing one social media platform’s major ethical violation; outlining how day-to-day social media and mass media exposure impacts interpersonal relationships; and examining the potential of ‘cancel culture’ as a tool for social change.
You are a recent Bryant & Stratton College graduate and are actively seeking employment. Your project is to show potential employers that you comprehend social media and mass media ethics and issues. Employees participating in mass media and social media could potentially create social and legal liability for employers. Your project will show potential employers that you understand social and mass media ethics and issues and what steps to take that can reduce potential liability.

Requirements and Formatting
Your Portfolio Project must be formatted as follows:
• APA formatting
• Title Page
• Times New Roman or Arial 12-point font
• 1-inch margins
• Page numbers in the top right corner
• 550-word count
• Double-spaced Word document
• APA formatting required for the in-text citations and reference page

Week 3: Major Ethical Issues
• Due by the end of Week 3 at 11:59 pm, ET.
You will be analyzing major ethical issues in social and mass media.
Select one of the articles to read (linked below). After you are done analyzing what you read, in at least 180 words, respond to the following prompts in a double-spaced Word document.
• Describe in your own words the major ethical issue that the social media platform is accused of violating.
• Identify evidence that the user’s digital privacy was violated?
• Determine the motive(s) for violating the user’s digital privacy?

Week 5: Impact on Relationships
• Due by the end of Week 5 at 11:59 pm, ET.
You will be evaluating the impact of day-to-day social and mass media exposure on interpersonal relationships.
Select one of the articles to read (linked below). After you are done assessing what you read, respond to the following prompts in at least 180 words.
• Outline your thoughts on how day-to-day social media and mass media exposure impacts interpersonal relationships.
• Discuss how social media use is related to social alienation.
• Create at least two questions relevant to interpersonal relationships that you would ask the inventors of social media when they were in the processing of creating it. Explain why you would ask each question.

Week 6: Potential for Change

You will be submitting an assignment summarizing the potential of social and mass media as forces for social change.
Select one of the articles to read (linked below). After you are done reading the article, in at least 180 words, respond to the following prompt.
• Summarize your thoughts on the potential of ‘cancel culture’ as a force for social change.
• Explain motives for using cancel culture as a tool for social change?

For the final piece of your Portfolio Project, you will reflect upon the course and how it directly relates to your future workplace. This reflection will be delivered as a Word document 1-2 pages in length.
For this reflection:
a. Analyze the importance of this project to your future career.
b. In your own words, reflect on how this project meets the Program and Institutional outcomes as stated on the first page
