Assignment
You have the option of either putting together a PowerPoint or other presentation and submitting the presentation or developing a paper that includes all of the information and then upload it to Blackboard in the Topic Presentation Assignment area. When making your presentation, you can just read from the slides or your paper. The PowerPoint presentation requires five (5) slides, or the paper must be at least three (3) pages, and both need to include all the information described below.
Four Sections of the Presentation: Goals, Objectives, Dos and Don’ts, and Commentary.
1. Goals: Include the information that says, “After studying these topics, you will benefit by:” [Usually, this information is in the first paragraph of the section.] Please indicate which of these goals are most important to you and why.
2. Objectives: Use the blue subtitles from each section as the specific areas addressed.
a. For example, in the first chapter, Attitude, Goal Setting, and Life management, the areas addressed in the chapter are: All About you, Personality and Values, Attitude, etc. Use the titles in the chapter you were assigned, and make sure to describe what is included in each section.
3. “Workplace Do’s and Don’ts” – Include all the dos and don’ts in your presentation. Please select one of the do’s and don’ts, give a personal example of what this means, and what happened when you followed or did not follow it.
4. Commentary – This is an opportunity to look at the chapter as a whole and provide personal insights on the topic and how it affects professionalism and workplace success. In your commentary, describe a situation that youfaced that either supports the advice the chapter gives or describes a situation where you did not adhere to the advice. Explain the outcome of either situation.
5. Presentation Overall Content: Your presentation should take about 5 to 10 minutes and focus on the Goals, Workplace Do’s and Don’ts, and the Commentary. You do not have to describe the objectives unless it helps in your presentation. You are not being graded on your presentation skills but the content of your presentation. You can either have your camera on or off during the presentation, and you do not need any visuals unless you want them. If you do want to show something to the class, let me know in advance.
