Read the excerpt from Plato’s Apology and also the passage from Clouds by Aristophanes (both are in the course packet below).
These two documents contain a surprisingly large amount of information on what Socrates may have been like in real life. Using these two documents (and nothing else), write Socrates’ eulogy. Needless to say, there are many approaches: you can praise him, condemn him, or something in between. Whatever position you take, the main point of this exercise is to search the documents for clues about Socrates and present your case to the class.
Your response should measure no more than 300 words.
