Evaluate by giving your reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with the arguments, the objection(s) and the response(s).

Paper length: 1000 words (approximately 3 pages, double spaced with normal12pt. font)
Paper topic: Pick an article from the textbook that we have not treated in class (you can write on a topic that we discussed, but do not pick one of the articles that we have or will go over in class for the main article of your paper).
Paper assignment:
Once you have picked an article you must do the following:
1. Give the author’s arguments for their view.
2. Give the objection(s) to the arguments.
3. Give any response(s) to the objection(s).
4. Evaluate by giving your reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with the arguments, the objection(s) and the response(s).
Regarding requirement 1: You must accurately present the author’s arguments. In some cases there will be too many arguments to cover for this assignment—present as many as you can while still explaining each thoroughly and leaving room for objections and responses.
Regarding requirements 2-3: Many times authors will bring up and address objections to their own view, you can use these objections and responses or you can find objections from other articles in the text book on the subject.
Regarding requirement 4:
Evaluation should be your own assessment of the issue regarding the arguments that you have discussed in your paper. Provide reasons for your view; don’t just tell me what you think, but also tell me why you think it.
Most of the points will come out of requirements 1-3 so make sure to do a thorough job explaining the arguments and objections and responses.
