Planning & Evaluation Report Review
This week you will identify an evaluation report that has already been carried out and review it based on the assignment requirements.
You will find an evaluation report written about a criminal justice organization, a criminal justice program or criminal justice policy. Then you will review this report to assess the following assignment requirements. In your review, you need to explain:
1. The identification of problem and who the stakeholders are
2. The theoretical approach used in the evaluation (postpositivist, pragmatist, constructivist, and transformative paradigm)
3. The evaluation type/methodology used
4. The data collection strategies (quantitative or qualitative), data analysis, and presentation of findings and recommendations.
5. Based on your analysis, what are strengths, weaknesses and limitations of the report you are reviewing?
You will analyze the evaluation report applying the knowledge we discussed during class.
You can find an evaluation report by a search using any of the search engines, especially Google or a search in Lamar’s library. You can also narrow your search by looking at sites that are specific to criminal justice, like FBI, NCJRS, OJJDP, Bureau of Justice Statistics. etc.
Please avoid reviewing a research paper (mostly in journals). There are very few research papers that are evaluation reports, but they are very few. This is where you will understand the difference between evaluation and scientific research. Most of all ensure you can answer the assignment requirements.
Your review should be 3-5 pages (excluding references), double space, Times New Roman, 12-point font size, and APA style in your citations and references.
