Define material and nonmaterial culture. (Using your textbook definition.)
Identify five (5) objects (material culture) that are part of your regular cultural experience. (Things you use in everyday life.)
For each object, identify what aspects of nonmaterial culture (values and beliefs) these objects represent. For example, if you have a Bible (material culture) it might represent that you are religious (nonmaterial culture) and follow the doctrines of that religion in your every day life.
What has this exercise revealed to you about your culture?
Why do you have these objects? How do these objects define who you are and influence your every day norms? Are these objects part of a larger culture or subculture in which you belong?
