executive order 9066

Summative Assessment: Imagine you and your family have been sent to an internment camp right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. What would you tell President Roosevelt of your experience? What would you persuade him to do about Executive Order 9066?

In a well-developed, 1-page narrative and persuasive letter, explain to President Roosevelt your situation. Include 2-3 reasons you think will make him change his decision. Don’t forget to include a call to action (what you want him to do).
Use evidence of conditions from the camps (can be inspired by Camp Harmony or “In Response” poem).
Create a well-developed character/narrator (fictional or nonfictional).
Use Executive Order 9066 as evidence. You may also use evidence from amendments to The U.S. Constitution (these may be paraphrased).
Make connections to any other relevant documents we have read/explored.
Start your letter with a salutation.
Sign a name (it could be a fictional name).
Letter should be double-spaced with 12-point readable font.
