experience of growth mindset

Prompt: Memoirs are a kind of writing used to narrate and analyze significant experiences in our lives. In a 3-5 page essay, recall, retell, and analyze a specific event (or a series of related events) in which you had to overcome an obstacle (physical, mental, emotional, a specific person or group of people) and began your journey on the road to developing a “growth-mindset.”
Use your response from Discussion Board #2- Personal Statement Chart in order to establish the setting of your narrative and to reflect on what you had to overcome or will have to overcome in order to develop this mindset. Who helped you along the way? What was the setting of your triumphs? What were the obstacles that you faced on your journey up to now?
Your ultimate goal is to help your audience understand the significance of an event (or a series of events) to the development of your growth-mindset.
This Essay Should Include:
Central Idea The introduction (first or second paragraph of your essay) should include a thesis statement that reflects your message. Make it clear, concise and sophisticated as possible.
Dialogue: A verbal exchange between two characters
Action: Exciting and notable activity that moves a story along its plot.
Analysis: This answers the “how” and “why” questions that arise through various points of intrigue in your essay. If there is an idea or ideas that you want to emphasize to your readers, be sure to explain how and why it’s important.
Imagery: The use of hyperbole, metaphors, similes and other kinds of imaginative language will be a big determining factor of your grades. Help readers to visualize your lives in a clear and detailed manner.
Voice: Verbal power in writing is most effectively expressed through the use of words and phrases carefully chosen for their sound effects. The story’s dialogue should reveal a rich language variety, which includes one’s home language, standard dialect, and/or a blend of “home-language” with “standard formal dialect” (this includes Spanglish, Creole, Ebonics, or any other kind of language variety).
