Hi there! I need to write an essay on the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and I could really use some help here. I’ve started on the introduction and conclusion; it’s probably crap but I will still send it to you. If there’s anything that you can use, please go ahead, but otherwise feel free to rewrite the whole thing as well. The intro should have a thesis statement ie we might argue that the MSA is bad. Think the most important thing here is to make sure that you’re not just explaining the law but also applying it to factual situations. For citation/referencing, we need to use OSCOLA (the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities), so if you could cite accordingly that would be great. For now, I understand that you would include 50 sources, but if you could include more that’s even better (also make sure to include a variety of sources (other than the obvious ones such as case law, statute and primary/secondary legislation) ie books, encyclopedias, articles, case notes, websites and blogs, and newspaper articles.) It’s also important to be critical in the essay, and not merely descriptive. So other than talking about the pros and cons of the MSA, and how it’s actually helped (or not) to prevent slavery, forced labor, human trafficking and domestic servitude and protect the victims of these practices, you should criticize the law and talk about its shortcomings (check out this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/government-s-modern-slavery-bill-will-fail-victims-and-spare-criminals-9005211.html) and how it can be improved to better protect victims etc. I will also send you an essay plan that I’ve prepared a while ago in case helpful. In the essay plan you will see that I’ve come across some sources which might be useful too so maybe go thru those and see if you want to include them in the essay). And finally I’ve sent you the learning outcomes for your reference (this doc is prob the most important because we want to make sure we’re hitting those learning outcomes). Like any other essay, the essay must have intro, main body and conclusion. Under main body, could you please include headings and subheadings and make a table of contents. And also make sure to talk about the New Modern Slavery (Amendment) Bill (think the UK is going to make some changes to the current law) and maybe the Modern Slavery Strategy (something I believe the gov published that talks about gov and law enforcement efforts to tackle the problem).
