Final Project Overview
The Applied Final Project consists of two sections: five Scrapbook Chapters and a reflection paper. You will choose five theoretical perspectives from the eight weekly content perspectives presented within the course to inspire the creation of five Scrapbook Chapters. The reflection paper completes the “scrapbook,” demonstrating insight and the application of course content to personal learning.
The development of the project will require you to select new readings, web resources, pictures and peer-reviewed articles to demonstrate mastery of course outcomes. Resources integrated into the project must originate from outside of the course materials; you may not use course resources in your project submissions.

The Applied Final Project is an integrative assignment in support of the three learning outcomes for the course:

2) evaluate assessment procedures used in personality research and theories
3) explain how personality theories can be applied in predicting behavior

Provide an APA formatted cover page providing the following information: page number, project title, personal information, institution, course number and title (i.e., PSYC 437: Positive Psychology), and date submitted. No images or other graphics should be included on the Cover Page.

Scrapbook Chapters: Requirements
You will develop a “scrapbook” for the course that uses weekly course content as a basis for inspiration. You are required to find new resources to complete this project and may not use any class materials, pictures, articles, videos, etc. The grading rubric used follows this description. You must assemble the scrapbook as follows using APA writing style guidelines. [Your document should be typed, double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″) with 1″ margins on all sides. You should use a clear font that is highly readable. APA recommends using 12-point Times New Roman font. Proper citation and reference techniques should be applied.]
3: Scrapbook Chapters
Choose five (5) weekly content areas from the course that appeal to you; your choice can include material not yet covered in the course. Develop one chapter per content area for your Scrapbook. Each Scrapbook Chapter will contain, in the following order:
a. Chapter Title: Begin each chapter with the course content title for your chapter (e.g., Chapter 1: Personality Disorders)
b. Image: Being each chapter by presenting one (1) image (graphic format is not important) that you believe best captures the concepts presented in the selected content area. Below each image, provide a caption identifying the source of the image. You do not need to reference your images in your References section.
c. Two Websites: For each chapter, introduce two websites that you identify as relevant to the content area selected. Introduce each website by providing the website title followed by the link. (Note the link must be a functioning link that takes you to the site indicated, not to a home page from which one needs to “dig” for your intended page.) Under the title and link, provide a two to three sentence description of the website. Websites you select may provide different types of information to support chapters (online tests, exercises, articles, etc.) For example:

d. Peer-reviewed Article: For each chapter…
Select one (1) article you feel builds upon the content area of the chapter. The article you select to summarize in your chapter must be at least two pages in length and come from a peer-reviewed psychology journal. You may not use book chapters or websites.
Full article citation: Within your chapter, introduce the article by providing a full citation in APA format. Your citation must include a means of gaining access to a copy of the article (e.g., the appropriate doi or an active hyperlink).
Write a well-constructed summary of the article addressing the topic, methods, findings and other significant points you deem important. Direct quotes from the article are not allowed. All work must be in your own words, properly citing concepts, and points from the article as necessary. Turinitin will be used to evaluate text originality.
e. Content Summary: In three to five paragraphs, develop a well-constructed analysis of your chapter, describing why you chose the pictures, websites, and article. To help you think about your motives for compiling the resources selected, ask yourself…
Why did I seek out this particular collection of resources?
Does the information expand upon information provided within the course?
Does the information reinforce points made within the course that I wished to know more about?
Does the information relate to me on a personal level?
Do I know someone who could benefit from knowing more about this topic?
Is this information applicable in my personal life, now or in the future?
4: Reflection Paper (Chapter 6)
The Reflection Paper is the second key component of the scrapbook you compile. The paper will be a five- to seven-page (double-spaced) personal reflection paper*, describing how you interpret and understand the material in the course. In the writing of the reflection paper, incorporate theories, constructs, and research findings from the course content. Include any thoughts about how you perceive you can use the information learned from the course. You must include a minimum of two (2) references from peer-reviewed journal articles (i.e., citations within the Reflection Paper). The Reflection Paper will be graded on the following areas:
a. Content (including required minimum page length)
b. Organization
c. Writing mechanics and style (APA standards will be applied)
Reflection papers under the 5-page minimum may receive a point penalty
All materials must be in your own words! Excessive use of direct quotes may a point penalty for each occurrence and will not be accepted as content towards the page count of the reflection paper.)
5: References Page
This will be the last page of your document. Include the page in your Table of Contents (i.e., Reference…..#) If you have questions about how to format the references, please refer to your copy of the APA Publication Manual, the UMUC writing resources provided within the course, or ask your instructor for assistance.
