1. Explain: Describe what advancement you chose and why. Be sure to include the time and place.
2. Evidence: Please explain how your human advancement choice occurred. Was it through technology, politics, learning institutions, culture shifts, religious shifts, art, agriculture, population, economics, or some other means? Did it occur through discovery, by accident, as a result of another occurrence, or to solve a problem?
3. Integration: Please explain how your academic major is connected to at least one point in history and to your human advancement choice. The purpose of this is to show you can look at and analyze your choice from a different perspective.
For example, if your major is computer programming, describe how history has influenced and changed computer programming, such as from a warehouse sized computer to a tiny microchip. Or how computer programming has changed history, such as advances in communication? Be sure to include an explanation how the specific human advancement you picked is connected to your major.

4. Context: Explain how your human advancement was viewed in the context of its time (this would be at its inception). Show analysis of its strengths, weaknesses, unexpected consequences, or conflicts.
Was it recognized as an advancement or was it rejected? How is it viewed in today’s world?
5. Student Position: Explain how/why humans are better or worse off today because of this human advancement.
6. Conclusions: Based on what you have learned from this assignment, explain your conclusions about the value of your human advancement, in the past and in the present. Explain its value to your major. Will it continue to advance humanity or will it fade into history?
