Respond to the following in a 175 words:
Define and explain correlation. Explain how calculated and what does it tell us about data gathered during a research process? How do we use correlation to help answer research questions? How does correlation differ from causation? Provide an example to explain the role of each in criminal justice.

A correlation is a relationship between two variables or events where they are dependent on each other. These variable are dependent on each other and that they react consistently together. where a positive correlation is where one event goes high such as test scores and then another variable similar in regard is also high such as grades that these can be in a positive effect of each other. A negative correlation is where one variable is high and the corresponding variable that would be connected is low such as like a see saw where one is higher than the other and that it is dependent on the events. Correlation is used to illustrate major differences in the factors of life such as how a crime can sometimes connect to a background like a neighborhood. However causation does not connect to correlation meaning just because a crime happens due to a social factor does not mean that it always will be based off of that social factor or even happen at all in the criminal justice branch.

Correlation Is defined as a mutual relationship or connection between two or more things. A good example of positive correlation would be height and weight. Taller people tend to be heavier. A negative correlation is a relationship between two variables in which an increase in one variable is associated with a decrease in the other. The correlation coefficient is calculated by first determining the covariance of the variables and then dividing that quantity by the product of those variables’ standard deviations. correlation method are used to determine the extent to which two or more variables are related among a single group of people. although sometimes each pair of score does not come from one person…the correlation between father’s and son’s height would not. Correlation means variables are statistically associated. Causation means that a change in one variable causes a change in another.
