Leadership, management, and policy seem to have, in
and of themselves, become national and civil security challenges as the threat
matrix changes. In addition, how practitioners employ tradecraft and
operational methodologies appear to be challenged by the impact of political
and social pressures, leading to polarization in and out of the national
security agencies we have rarely seen in history.

new challenges emerge.

Part I: Review of the Literature

At least 15 of the 20 sources MUST BE scholarly articles to review the literature. Next, supplement scholarly
literature with current practitioner-authored material; this means most
of your references/sources must be scholarly. Finally, write a clear, well-synthesized literature review that tells
a story about the current issue you select.

The literature review on the topic should include a synthesis of significant theories or arguments, identify the strengths and weaknesses
of the methods used by scholars to explore the issue, and discuss gaps in the
literature. Finally, suggest how those who investigate this topic in the future should
study it.
Part II: Annotated Bibliography
Complete a one-page Annotated Bibliography for five of the scholarly articles utilized in Part
I above. The Annotated Bibliography must:

– Include ONLY annotations of articles published
in peer-reviewed journals and used in Part I.
– Provide a one-page summary of each article (for five pages
total). Each one-page summary must include: The topic explored in the study,
the method used to study the issue, a description of the participants in the
study, study findings, and suggestions for future research. In addition, provide a proper reference page citation for the source at the top of each
page.
