Explain how many lives lost due to discrimination and prejudice….Imagine we have to actually STATE that someone’s life matters.

In light of the 2020 elections, and during times of “black lives matter”, and in light of the hundreds of times we cried and demonstrated and yelled and filmed and tried to stop the merciless killing of the innocent…. only to get back to our comfortable place in the world and feel the pain of self helplessness and despair….and go on.
But not aronson. As a social psychologist, he in fact told us about all this, with solutions, decades ago.
How many “George Floyd” murder, school shootings, mass violence, aggressive conspiracies (including planning to kidnap and kill a voted governor and attaching our capitol) did you count since way ago since this book was written addressing Columbine High massacre? How many parents and family members of the lost ones demanded actions but were not sure what or how. How many lives lost due to discrimination and prejudice….Imagine we have to actually STATE that someone’s life matters…..
It is an issue in its own when we have to remind others of the value of some of us’s lives… teachers, parents, students, all look for answers and demand change yet are unable to provide good methods that work. They should look for answers in our social science literature that we hope the new generation is guided by.
We know what to do, yet we do not do it. Aronson did and he told us how.
For this assignment, you are requested to read Aaron’s “Nobody Left to Hate” book, and write a letter with a list of recommendations, examples and interesting findings to give to a parent who lost their own tragically and needlessly so they can show community leaders how to help them solve some of the issues we suffer due to racism and inequalities.
I know, it is very painful! but I often scream when I see/hear heartbroken folks promise to do what is possible to decrease such tragedies in the names of their loved ones in hope their lives were not totally wasted.
the letter has to be two to three pages, and has to build on some of the ideas that Aronson provides and you find useful. You can provide condolences and comforting words, but that alone will not earn you credit. You must build your letter on findings from the Arosnon book.
