ESSAY 1: Society & Self
Overview
You will produce a three-page essay that responds to one of the questions listed below.
Who am I and what role do I play in my family and in society?
How much does your neighborhood, family, and experiences influence how you define your roles, rights, and responsibilities?
How do my upbringing, experiences, and values impact my views and thoughts about society.
Note: You can also choose a topic outside these themes. I need to pre-approve it, though. All essays will be electronically checked for plagiarism.
Requirements:
This paper must be typed.
The final draft should be free of grammatical errors and in standard MLA format. To do that make sure you do the following:
Read your piece aloud before you hand it in.
Be sure to have a header on the first page with numbers in the upper right-hand corner of every page, as required by MLA 8.
Be at least three double-spaced pages.
Include an introduction, thesis statement, topic sentences and conclusion.
Have a minimum of three well-developed, supporting points per paragraph
And– this is the most important thing of all – make sure you write a focused piece of writing that you actually care about. Remember your audience are people in this class– not necessarily me.
