Explain how power and access to resources and services may be denied to LGBTQ+ clients by a politically conservative social worker or agency on the basis of the client violating the worker’s or agency’s values and ethics based on sexual orientation/gender identity.

I am looking to examine how the LGBTQ+ community may face specific and unique social services needs and how the social work profession serves as the means for services delivery. I am curious about how:

1. Conflict Theory
How groups of people who hold political and religious conservative views may help shape how and what social services are actually provided to or denied to members of the LGBTQ+ community based on the non-heterosexual/non-cisgender identity of the client(s) because the community somehow violates the social and cultural norms of the people or groups with power (such as a religious or politically conservative organization or social worker)

2. Social Dominance Theory
How the social worker or social services agency perpetuates status quo hierarchy on the basis of diminishing importance or value of client on the basis of the client’s perceived sexual orientation/gender identity–such as a transgender individual violating sexual and gender norms through the process of transitioning and living their truth

3. Social Constructivism Theory
How power and access to resources and services may be denied to LGBTQ+ clients by a politically conservative social worker or agency on the basis of the client violating the worker’s or agency’s values and ethics based on sexual orientation/gender identity
