POEM.
Once again, make sure the poem looks and sounds like a poem (and please forgo rhyme for now—or use internal rhymes). Make sure there is a feeling that precedes the poem. Allow for use of the senses, and please include an image. Be aware of the first and last line, along with the line breaks. Read your poem aloud, have it read to you.
PROMPT: I will usually offer you more than one prompt–but you need ONLY CHOOSE ONE. Here are you prompts: Poem that tells a story, narrative, as the poems in this week’s readings do. Feel free to use the first person, but remember that there is compression in the telling, compression in the description. The other prompt is to write a poem that is like a letter, that is addressed to someone–but in this case, please make it a someone who, for one reason or another, cannot receive the poem, a poem that addresses someone. Explain how some of the poems for this week make use of image, symbols, and the senses.
