I want you to choose a topic that you find interesting from the timeframe of our class. You will develop that topic into your thesis. Make sure that your thesis asks or answers a question that guides your research and writing. I am including a list of sample topics, but I would rather you propose one of your own. Try to discover something interesting that most people don’t know. As soon as I approve your thesis, you are welcome to start. Your finished essay will be uploaded to Canvas and will be two to four pages (two full pages not including the Works Cited page and optional title page), typed, double-spaced, and 12-point Times New Roman font.
For this assignment, I am looking for at least a five-paragraph essay written following Modern Language Association (MLA) Style. The three body paragraphs in the essay should follow the three main ideas that are included as part of your thesis statement. As you are writing your essay, I also want you to think about and make sure your essay addresses the following: 1) What did you learn about your topic? 2) What did people at the time think about your topic? 3) In what ways has your topic impacted the present?
My thesis and topic is, How did the Black Codes restrict African American Progress After the Civil War?
I provided a link to the information about the black codes as well https://www.history.com/news/black-codes-reconstruction-slavery
