The Research paper assignment is detailed on page 13 of the pdf that has been attached to this essay. The proposed artwork which needs to be written about is Miguel González, The Virgin of Guadalupe; the proposed research question is: How does the enconchado technique create a distinct represnetation of the virgin Mary in comparison with other copies of the Virgin Mary and what effect does this have (examples of other paintings are those by Jose de Paez or Nicholas Enriquez)? The paper should include some contextual information but should focus on technique and formal analysis of the painting. Most of the information will be included in the pdf under “Research Paper: Images of the Virgin Mary”.
