Final project: Find a case study of an arson fire that is well documented. The fire must have had a great lose of life, or a financial or emotional impact on the surrounding community. Search newspapers, magazine articles, or a report found on the internet for your case study. This fire must have some of the objectives that have been discussed in the chapters of our text, or in our threaded discussions.
Your case study should start out with some general information, such as type and size of structure, occupancy, time of day the fire was started. It should also include how many people lost their life in the fire, if any, and the dollar amount or other losses suffered by the community because of this fire. Give a brief description of how many engines, firefighters and gallons of water were needed to extinguish this fire. Describe any problems that had to be overcome by the OIC and crew members in fighting this fire.

Explain how the fire investigators went about their investigation and what approach they used. Describe how the arsonist started this fire, if accelerants were used. Explain the nature and the rate of growth of the fire. Describe in full detail if there were explosives used, what type of explosion, did the investigators use the four Cs or 4 Rs when they investigated the explosion? If there were fire related deaths or injuries, describe in full detail what caused the victims deaths or injuries.
In your report, list the six frequently cited classifications of motives of starting an arson fire. Which motive do you believe was behind the fire that you are giving the report on and why?The arsonist wants to produce a maximum amount of destruction while setting their fires. Several characteristics describe how the fire is set, a situation that can sometimes leave the telltale signatures of the arsonist. In your case study what did the investigators find that lead them to the conclusion that this was arson?
Were the investigators successful in convicting the arsonist? Explain why or why not. Describe anything that was different or unusual about this study. Finally, explain if you agreed or disagreed with the investigators and what you would have done differently with the investigation of this fire.

Please write your report in a Word document. Plan on writing 6-8 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font, with one-inch margins. Please be sure to check your grammar and spelling before submitting. You must have a cover page.
