At a funeral, really? Driving? Have you seen the data about texting and driving? Not good!
We’ve all seen people make poor choices about when to use their mobile communication devices. When isn’t it appropriate and safe to use your cell phone. The paper has 3 parts:
VALUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION DEVICES: Think about the values you selected for your Values Paper. Are any of them relevant to deciding when and when not to use your mobile communication devices? Select two human values that are relevant to consideration of etiquette and safety issues associated with mobile communication device use. Explain how these values should guide your decisions about when to use/not use your mobile communication devices. Write one paragraph per value. (If none of your values are a good fit, substitute with relevant values from the Family Values Tournament.)
NO MOBILE COMMUNICATION DEVICE USE ALLOWED!: Develop a list of at least 6 mobile communication device “no nos,” that is, times you should NOT use your mobile communication device. Select situations in which it is not appropriate to use a cell phone. (Don’t talk specific aps that have specific uses.)
Finally, I want you to respond to a modified version of Question 3 from DotCalm. To what degree are you tethered to the various productivity tools that you use? How essential are these tools to your ability to live and work well? Also, can you think of any ways your devices might be negatively impacting your ability to live and work well? How consistent are your personal use habits with the two values you identified in Part 1 of this assignment? Mention those values and how they impact your choices.
