Explain how Writing instructions is an important type of technical writing. It is essential that the instructions are ethical and honest, as well as clear so that the user can safely complete the stated task.
For this assignment, you will provide clear, original instructions to complete an activity. Your assignment should be professionally presented and allow the reader to safely and accurately complete a task.
Include a title, introduction, and list of required materials before providing the instructions.
Include at least 12 steps, with some steps nested.
Use at least three (3) images to aid your reader.
Commands must begin with imperative verbs.
Include at least two (2) notes, warnings, or cautions.
Effectively use white space.
For the assignment, I recommend writing the instructions for a task that you can complete while you are jotting down the instructions. It will make the process much easier. Processes that you may not use for this assignment:
Changing the oil or a tire on a car
Cooking a published recipe. (If you have your own recipe, that is fine, but don’t use something someone else has written).
Writing instructions for something that you already have instructions to complete (If you have the manual, choose another option).
Writing instructions for something that the object producer has posted instructions to do on the internet (like changing the setting on an email account)
I also recommend not doing too much. For example, building a computer is too much, but if you want to reapply thermal paste, that is fine.
The assignment should be single-spaced, include page numbers, have an APA cover page, and be professionally written with accurate grammar, words, and punctuation.
