Assessment Description
The local justice court in a small rural county in the U.S. needs a consultant to help them address issues surrounding bail. Leaders in the community have voiced concerns about how the current bail system affects certain segments of the population. In particular, a concern has been raised about how the system unfairly penalizes those of the lower socio-economic classes. The court wants to address these concerns and ensure they are using bail appropriately. They want to establish policies surrounding bail that do not discriminate against defendants based on wealth, or any other factor. The court still needs to ensure the policies are effective at motivating defendants to appear in court though.
