Introduction
More and more studies are being conducted on intelligence, memory and the prominence of Alzheimer’s disease. Experts agree that the onset of this disease may be due to an interaction of multiple factors including age, genetics, environmental conditions, and lifestyle. Research suggests that individuals who start making lifestyle changes early in life may reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. However, many middle-aged adults quit smoking, moderate their consumption of alcohol and fatty foods, and give up recreational drugs.
The Assignment
Research how intelligence and memory change in middle-age adults and what experts think causes Alzheimer’s disease. Include information on multiple ways people can improve their chances of staying brain healthy. Then select the one lifestyle change you think will have the most beneficial impact on reducing the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Build a case for why it is the most beneficial and when would be the optimal time in a person’s life to implement the change.
Your argumentative-research essay should be 3-5 pages long and should use documented information from your reading assignments, videos and other sources, such as recent articles from the Psychology databases (no more than 5-years-old). All sources must be properly documented in APA format using both in-text citations and a reference page.
