To begin this assignment, find a juvenile justice policy related to reform of the juvenile justice system. Find the policies by
searching the Waldorf Online Library including the Criminal Justice database.

Then find two juvenile programs using the OJJDP website. Website links for OJJDP include the following:

You will provide at least a two-page paper, not including the title or reference page, to answer the following prompts. Be sure
to answer all parts, but you do not need to number them; this should be written as a paper. You must use the book and
other outside sources to support your answers, and then cite and reference them in APA style.

1. Explain the juvenile justice policy and the effect it has had on the criminal justice system. Has this policy been
successful and in what ways? If not successful, also explain why.

2. How are policies like the one that you found related to programs in the juvenile justice system? How did research and
data influence policies such as these?

3. Give details of your chosen programs regarding how they are used to help juveniles avoid being in the criminal justice
system, or how the programs are used to prevent juveniles from committing future crimes.

4. Pick two of the theories discussed in this chapter. Explain how these theories relate to the creation of policies, as well
as how they then relate to the two programs you selected.

5. Are programs such as these enough? Do you feel they work, or should we be punishing the juveniles? Explain your
opinions thoroughly.
