First please read “Memory and Imagination” by Patricia Hampl. You will want to read the essay more than once!
Then, after you have read the essay,

Write a letter to Patricia Hampl. In your letter, identify one idea in her essay that strikes you as important. Explain to her how you understand her idea, and what makes it an important idea for you, and show her you understand her idea by bringing in a specific story from your own experience or observation that demonstrates this idea. Remember that this is a letter so keep that in mind as you are writing. Really pretend you are writing a letter that you would actually send.
