Existing Theory
This section should resemble a literature review with a focus on summarizing previous theories and common constructs used to explain your behavior of choice; it should not focus broadly on findings other than possible references to mixed or strong support for X theory/construct in previous research.
It may be useful to organize by theory or construct.
Note any major weaknesses or gaps in the existing literature as a whole.
You should discuss 6-8 articles here. They should all be peer-reviewed, empirical, and adhere to CRAAP guidelines.
Your Theory
Based on what you have read, develop your own theory to explain your CJ behavior etc of choice.
Explain why you are incorporating the constructs you choose to incorporate, and how they weave together to ultimately lead to the behavior etc you are explaining.
This is essentially a discussion of Dubin’s criteria (the what, how & why)
Include a map.
Discuss the strengths of your theory.
This is essentially a discussion of Akers criteria (Scope, Implications, Logic etc).
Methods
Briefly explain how you would test your theory.
Describe who/what make up your subjects.
Describe the data would you seek to obtain from your subjects.
Note, at a minimum, how you would operationalize your dependent variable.
Defend your choices.

This paper is due at the start of class on 04/14.
You must submit 2 copies; a hard copy in class and an online copy in BB.
Note, please submit as a Word .doc or .pdf; BB has issues opening other formats.
Other info:
While there is no official word minimum or maximum, 2500-3500 words is a reasonable aim.
Use headings and subheadings in each section (eg., Existing theory, Weaknesses & Gaps).
Please double space and use standard font, margins & color.
Include page numbers on each page.
As a formal, social science writing exercise, you should have:
Clear spelling, grammar, and formal writing style.
Logical use of paragraphs and clear flow of paragraphs.
Extensive APA citations in-text as well as an APA style reference list.
Extremely limited use of direct quotes.
When used, they must be incorporated and cited properly.
Synthesized writing across articles.
It may be helpful to revist the brief articles & web pages related to writing style, quotes etc.
