DON’T write, “In this essay I will…
DO write “Although Barabara Ehrenreich’s essay Will Women Still Need Men? is entertaining the true power of her work is to highlight that women are still considered to be incomplete or helpless without men.”
Introduction
Do what must be done, to make your reader understand what the essay will cover.
Must include your thesis statement + any of the following
You might share a brief context of the purpose of your essay.
You might define the subject of the argument.
You might define the boundaries of your argument.
You might add statistical or other facts.
Body
Each paragraph must contribute to proving your thesis.
Use evidence in each body paragraph to support your assertions
Depending on your thesis statement these may include – quotes from a text, statistical data, or real life examples,
Write a minimum of 2 body paragraphs and more as time limits allow
Counter-Argument
You must identify and attack the arguments against your thesis.
State clearly how others might disagree with your thesis.
Explain why they are wrong to disagree with your thesis.
Conclusion
Your conclusion must be a “call to action” that means you will tell the reader what they should do.
“All of us must be responsible for the trash we create. Don’t throw your trash out the car window, or on the floor in Walmart. Find a trash can and keep our planet beautiful.”
