This is an essay-based exam question that requires you to do outside research and include that research in your answer. This response is not
limited to one particular chapter in the textbook but can, if you choose,
A submission should include sources that:
1. Provide academic or practical company policy advice about how to deal with the issues posed.
2. Refer to company policies, statements, or other sources that help address the issues posed in the social media post.
3. Give legal advice on how a company should deal with employee/associate issues.
Instructions:
1. Look up the names “Lisa Alexander”- CEO of a cosmetics company LaFace, James Juanillo, and Robert Larkin, managing partner at
Raymond James
2. Research news, social media posts, and other reliable sources to determine what happened with these three people.
3. Provide, in your own words, a summary of the incident.
4. Provide, in your own words, a summary of the responses from employees and companies associated with all of the people involved.
5. Include research on how, legally, a company can address issues such as the one addressed in this case, use the textbook if need be.
6. Provide some options(least 3) as to what a company or employer could do in this situation.
7. After working through the legal options, work through the ethical components of this situationn from the perspective of what a company or
employer should in this situation. How did the companies or employers react? Do you agree with that reaction? Is it the most ethical reaction?
8. And finally, research some social media employee policies, choose one, and explain why you feel the policy you choose is a good legal and
ethical model for companies to follow.
In your response, you should include at least 2 legally related sources and at least 2 separate news sources.
Note: There are various legal responses to issues presented like this. I am not looking for a particular right answer in terms of what to do here-although I do have my own opinion, I do not grade based upon whether you agree with my opinion. In a law class, I grade upon whether you
have correctly worked through legal options and decided upon your management decision based upon what is legally allowed.
