Go to Composition Anthology and under Literature read “The School Days of an Indian Girl” by Zitkala-Sa.
Summarize the story in 1-2 paragraphs and then in another 3 paragraphs provide your interpretation of the story. Read your classmate’s interpretations of the story and comment on what you have in common with your peers as far as interpretation goes, what is different? Explain why you think you might come up with different interpretations?
In Composition II you will mainly focus on literary interpretation. Interpretation is arguable. Critics may argue about multiple meanings of a work. To learn more about this idea, consider googling the many different interpretations of Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree.”
