Research Thesis: Evaluating a Political Leader
Legislative and executive leaders on the city, state and federal levels have tremendous impact on how we live our lives. In a
democracy, they are beholden to the people, and, as such, it is the responsibility of the people to monitor what the elected officials are
doing. Much time is spent discussing the pros and cons of our political leaders. This semester, you will research the positions and
actions of one political leader, examine what their supporters and opponents say and evaluate their decisions and their leadership. You
will be assigned a leader by your teacher.
Task:
A. You will research and explain the positions taken by your leader on three major issues.
B. You will research and explain two major initiatives that have been undertaken by your leader.
C. You will formulate and explain your own conclusions about the effectiveness of their leadership and whether or not you
believe they are correct in their positions and actions
